What is urgent care?

Just exactly what you think it means. It is prompt medical care for a variety of injuries, conditions and illnesses from allergic reactions to broken bones to sore throats to sinus infections. No appointment needed. It’s also a high quality alternative for patients who don’t want to spend hours waiting in a hospital emergency room. You can visit BetterMed when you can’t get in to see your regular doctor, too. BetterMed accepts most insurance plans and co-pays are typically lower than ER co-pays.

BetterMed is considered an Urgent Care, which is an office-based practice.

We do not bill a facility fee as a hospital or free-standing Emergency Department does. However, we do bill for diagnostic and therapy services. If you went to visit your primary care physician, your copay covers specifically the visit with your PCP. However, if your PCP orders an X-ray during your visit, the outpatient imaging facility where you have the X-ray will charge you for the X-ray plus the radiologist’s interpretation of the X-ray. At our facility, if you have an X-ray taken, you will be charged for the X-ray, similar to the outpatient imaging facility, but you will not be charged for the physician’s interpretation of the X-ray. This is the same for the other diagnostic and therapeutic services that are performed at BetterMed. If you are seen in the ER, you are charged for the X-ray being taken by the hospital staff, the interpretation of the X-ray by the radiologist and the emergency physician PLUS another facility fee by the hospital for the visit. At BetterMed, we do not charge a facility fee. You are being charged only for one provider visit plus any diagnostic or therapeutic services. Please contact us if you have any further questions.
